Swimming Groups

|
The new swimming group or, to be more correct, groups has got off to a flying start.
One group contains just one member (and a helper) who is trying to overcome her fear of
water - and succeeding well. The Groups meet every Wednesday at Truro Swimming Pool.
The other group is for swimmers, especially those amongst us who have not been in the water
for 40 years. The activity is enormous fun, very good for one's health and general
well-being. The cost is £2.60 (concessions) and worth every penny. Details from Shirley Davis on 01872 - 270030

The End of the Road Show
|
|
The End of the Road Show is a community festival, held on August Bank Holiday weekend, show-casing and celebrating the wealth of talent we have in Penwith, as well as bringing exciting music from well-known West Country acts. Half a mile from Lands End, in the Sennen Churchtown village hall and surrounding grounds, the Festival offers a wide variety of entertainment and activities for all the family. Saturday will have a traditional village fete feel to it - with an emphasis on local, sustainable and "green" produce, creative activities and acoustic music. The Sunday will be an eclectic mix of live music, theatre, dance, and more green stalls. Family friendly during the day, the festival will become a bit livelier as the dusk draws in, with up-beat, danceable music in the marquee. With open-sided marquee, beer tent and a big-top, as well as the village hall this will be a great event whether the sun shines or not. A sandcastle competition, school art week, and balloon race in the months leading up to it, this festival is planning to become a year-round community-building project for the Lands End peninsula. Free entry Saturday, by ticket Sunday (under 14s free)
